Chapter 96
Aside from her Math Olympiad performance, Nicole didn’t have much else to show in terms of academic achievements.
However, Austin had no issue with accepting her offer for tuition, which only made Raine angrier.
Austin, who was in the same grade as her, had snubbed her by agreeing to Nicole’s offer.
She sneered at the thought.
“I admire Nicole’s courage.
She’s at the bottom yet wants to tutor Austin.
She should have more self-awareness,” Raine commented.
“Yeah, she’s really bold to do that.
Let’s wait and see how she embarrasses herself,” Gary added.
He wasn’t in the mood to eat and felt down, especially thinking about the bet between Nicole and Mr.
Kennedy.
The Math Olympiad was one day before the monthly exam, and time was running out.
Gary stood up, ignoring Raine, who was still grumbling, and left the cafeteria with his bag.
Raine glared at his retreating figure, stomping her foot in frustration.
“It’s all Nicole’s fault! She’s ruining Gary’s appetite again!” Raine muttered under her breath.
She glanced at Nicole and Lulu, who were still waiting in line, and her anger only grew.
Spotting an opportunity, Norah said, “Don’t worry, we don’t have to do anything just yet.
Nicole will make a fool of herself soon enough.”
The Math Olympiad and the monthly exam were both just around the corner.
Everyone would see Nicole for who she truly was.
Norah smirked as she imagined adding fuel to the fire, ensuring Nicole’s reputation would take a dive.
“By then, Jared will forget about her,” Norah thought triumphantly, knowing it would help her get closer to Jared.
Raine’s mood lightened at Norah’s words, and a sneer crept onto her face.
She was eager to see how long Nicole could stay confident.
After lunch, word spread that Nicole was going to tutor Austin.
Many students laughed, eager to see her fail.
Nicole sat in her seat, flipping through a book.
Bradley, sitting next to her, glanced at the school forum and whispered, “Nicole, are you really going to tutor Austin?”
Nicole didn’t look up, continuing to flip through her book.
“I just told him to ask me any questions he doesn’t understand.”
Bradley was about to respond when Jack, who had been sitting behind them, couldn’t hold back any longer.
Jack had initially changed his mind about Nicole, but now he couldn’t stand her.
She had refused Gary’s help but still promised something she couldn’t deliver.
While Gary studied tirelessly to avoid embarrassment, Nicole boldly claimed she would tutor Austin.
Jack sneered at her.
“Be more self-aware, Nicole.
Why would anyone come to you for advice after you scored zero? Even if Austin’s not as great as others, he’s still in the top ten.”
Jack paused for a moment before continuing, “You care so much about Austin, but have you ever considered how much Gary has done for you? He’s working hard, trying to make up for your big talk, and yet you don’t even thank him.
Don’t you think you’re taking it too far?”
His words were full of righteous indignation, but Nicole didn’t even look at him.
She lazily rested her head on her hand and flipped through the book, unfazed by his outburst.
Jack slammed the table in frustration.
“This is enough, Nicole! At first, I thought you were just reserved, not a bad person.
But I was wrong.
You’re really just like what they say on the school forum: cold-blooded and ruthless.”
