Chapter 92
his eyes, a slight smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
Yet, there was something in his gaze that made Snow feel like he was a puzzle she couldn’t quite solve.
She had always been the one to capture attention effortlessly, but now, standing before Harvey, there was a strange tension in the air.
“Well, here I am,” Harvey said casually, his voice smooth and measured, as if he had no other purpose than to be there, yet there was something in his tone that made Snow wonder if it was more than mere coincidence.
Snow beamed, her heart fluttering at the thought.
“I’m so glad you came by.
I didn’t think you’d find the time after everything that happened.”
Harvey’s eyes shifted briefly, his expression unreadable.
“I always have time for what matters.”
Snow’s smile widened, pleased by the words.
She was about to respond, but before she could, a voice interrupted them from behind.
“Harvey, Snow.” It was Edwin, walking toward them with a grin plastered on his face.
He had been watching from a distance, and now that Harvey had arrived, he felt the need to make his presence known.
Harvey gave him a quick glance but didn’t acknowledge him further, his attention still on Snow.
Edwin didn’t seem to mind the cold reception.
“Well, well, what a scene we have here.
The perfect couple, standing together.
I almost feel like an outsider now.”
Snow, slightly embarrassed but trying to maintain her composure, laughed.
“What are you talking about, Edwin? We’re just having a chat.”
Harvey remained silent, his expression still unreadable as he observed the interactions around him.
He wasn’t in the mood for small talk, and Edwin’s presence seemed unnecessary at best.
“Ah, right.
Just a chat,” Edwin replied, sensing the change in the atmosphere.
“I’ll leave you two alone then.
Wouldn’t want to interrupt the conversation.”
As Edwin turned and walked away, Harvey’s eyes narrowed slightly.
There was something about the situation that didn’t sit right with him.
He wasn’t sure why, but it felt like too much of a show.
Too much of a performance for others.
And he didn’t like that.
Snow, oblivious to Harvey’s thoughts, still basked in the attention he had given her.
She leaned a little closer to him, her voice soft but eager.
“So, what do you think? I’ve been thinking about you a lot.”
Harvey, his gaze fixed somewhere far beyond her, didn’t immediately respond.
His mind was elsewhere, a place where he was beginning to question not just his relationship with Snow but also the unfamiliar faces that had started to appear in his life—faces like Jared’s, and the mysterious girl he had seen practicing martial arts earlier.
Nicole.
The name echoed in his mind, though he hadn’t said it out loud.
There was something about her that unsettled him, something different from Snow and the others he had been around his entire life.
Nicole wasn’t like the rest.
Snow noticed the shift in his attention, her smile faltering slightly.
“Harvey? Are you listening?”
Harvey blinked, his thoughts returning to the present.
He gave Snow a polite smile, the kind of smile that masked whatever was going on beneath the surface.
“Of course, Snow.
I’m just…
thinking.”
Snow, ever the optimist, mistook it for deep affection.
“What are you thinking about?” she asked eagerly.
Harvey hesitated before answering, his mind briefly drifting back to the moment earlier with Jared.
“Nothing important.
Just some things I need to take care of.”
Snow tilted her head, curious but not pressing further.
“Well, I’m glad you came.
I’ll be waiting for you later…
after class?”
Harvey nodded absently, his thoughts still clouded by the unexpected feelings and encounters of the day.
“I’ll see you later.”
As Snow walked away, Harvey remained in the same spot for a moment longer, his gaze lingering on the empty space where she had just stood.
His expression turned colder, more distant.
There was something in the air, a shift he couldn’t ignore.
Something was changing.
And he wasn’t sure if he was ready for it.
