Chapter 59
Norah’s expression stiffened, realizing she had made a mistake in revealing too much.
Spencer’s stern gaze was enough to make her aware that the situation had taken a turn.
“Whatever the reason, Norah, you are to keep your distance from them from now on,” Spencer said firmly.
“Absolutely,” Samuel added, his voice unwavering.
Norah, unable to argue, reluctantly replied, “I got it.”
Internally, Norah seethed.
Damn you, Nicole! You will see.
Even if I stay away from them, I have ways to make Snow and Raine target you!
Nicole, noticing Norah’s silent anger, quietly sneered to herself.
She was not blind—she knew there had to be someone orchestrating the schemes against her.
Norah, who had once hated Uncle Dillon’s family, was now getting close to them for reasons Nicole could already guess.
It didn’t take a genius to figure out Norah’s true motives.
Half an hour later, they finished their meal, and Spencer and Samuel went to pay the bill at the cashier.
Nicole and Norah stepped out first, trying to get some fresh air.
Norah was sulking, her mood clearly darkened, and Nicole noticed her discomfort with every glance.
Just then, a drunken man stumbled out behind them, slamming into Norah.
“Yikes!” Norah nearly fell from the force of the collision.
The drunken man looked up and, seeing Norah in a red dress, grinned lecherously.
“Wow, your moan is so alluring.
Why not have fun together, eh?” he leered, stepping toward her.
A few more drunken men, likely rich kids, followed him.
The scene quickly became uncomfortable, with passersby deliberately avoiding the situation, too afraid to intervene.
“You—you all don’t come near me!” Norah stammered, instinctively stepping behind Nicole for protection.
The men, seeing Nicole, quickly shifted their attention.
Her beauty was undeniable, and their eyes lit up with interest.
“She’s pretty! Hey beauty, are you waiting for someone? Want me to keep you company?” one of them asked, his tone dripping with sleaze.
Nicole felt disgust surge within her as the situation unfolded.
She shot a quick glance at Norah, a fleeting thought of pushing her back into the fray crossing her mind.
But before she could act, one of the men had already leaned in, his eyes scanning her body.
“God, you’re stunning! Beauty, shall we go?” he purred, reaching for her face.
Nicole, filled with revulsion, instinctively tilted her head to avoid his touch.
Just as she was about to retaliate, Samuel’s angry voice broke through the air.
“What do you think you’re doing to my sister?”
“Samuel!” Norah cried, rushing to her brother for comfort, but Samuel and Spencer had already shielded Nicole from the men, positioning themselves protectively in front of her.
Norah, stunned, found herself on the outside of their protective circle, a sharp sting of hurt piercing her heart.
It wasn’t always like this.
Once, she had been her brothers’ first priority, but now, in a moment of danger, their attention was solely on Nicole.
Even the men, who had once ogled Norah, were now too preoccupied with Nicole to care about her.
One of the men muttered under his breath, “Boss… Let’s go.”
“Yeah, we’re out of here,” another guy added quickly, realizing they were outmatched.
The leader of the group grumbled in frustration but finally waved his hand in defeat.
“Alright, alright.
It’s your sister.
Okay?”
The men left in a hurry, and Samuel let out a sigh of relief as he turned to Nicole.
“Are you alright?” he asked, his eyes full of concern.
Nicole smiled softly, touched by their protectiveness.
“I’m fine.
They didn’t do anything to me…”
