Chapter 60
When June saw Nicole, her face immediately darkened.
She had heard rumors about Nicole, but seeing her sitting so casually in the dorm with Lulu made her blood boil.
June had always felt a competitive edge when it came to Nicole, and this unexpected twist only fueled her jealousy.
Lulu, still holding the phone with the video, looked at June and gave her a small, friendly smile.
“Hey, June.
Nicole was just helping me with a little problem.”
June, clearly not in the mood for pleasantries, shot a cold glance at Nicole before turning her attention back to Lulu.
“I see.
You seem to have a lot of time for Nicole.
How sweet,” she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
Nicole, not bothered by June’s attitude, merely raised an eyebrow.
She had grown accustomed to the tension and knew how to handle it.
“What brings you here, June?”
June’s eyes flashed, but she quickly masked her emotions with a smile.
“I just wanted to check on the dorm and see how things were going.
It’s a little weird, isn’t it? The way things work around here.
One minute, you’re just another student, and the next, everyone knows your family’s business.”
Nicole chuckled softly, unfazed.
“The key to survival here is keeping a low profile.
And besides, I don’t mind what others say about me.
Let them gossip all they want, as long as it doesn’t interfere with my life.”
Lulu nodded in agreement, adding, “Exactly.
No one should let the rumors get to them.”
June was about to respond when she suddenly stopped, looking at the phone in Lulu’s hand.
The video was still paused on the screen, and June’s eyes narrowed.
“What’s that?”
Lulu, eager to share, waved the phone in front of June, not realizing the potential fallout.
“Oh, just a little video Nicole gave me.
It’s going to clear up some nasty rumors.
It’s about Ashley, the one who’s been spreading lies about Nicole.
You’ll love it.”
Nicole leaned back in her chair, watching June’s reaction carefully.
She could feel the tension in the air as June’s expression shifted from curiosity to suspicion.
“What video?” June asked again, her tone more insistent.
Lulu, sensing the change, hesitated but then shrugged.
“It’s nothing.
Just some gossip that’ll be put to rest soon.”
Nicole gave a faint smile.
“If it’s going to clear things up, let it.
I’m done explaining myself.
People can believe whatever they want.”
June seemed to pick up on the indifference in Nicole’s voice and quickly masked her irritation with a forced smile.
“Well, I hope things work out for you, Nicole.
Really, I do.
But remember, the more attention you draw, the harder it is to keep things quiet.”
Nicole met her gaze, her expression calm but assertive.
“I’ve always been good at handling attention, June.
Don’t worry about me.”
With that, June’s smile faltered slightly before she turned and left, her mind clearly racing with thoughts.
Nicole didn’t let it bother her.
After all, she had bigger plans than worrying about petty rivalries.
