meet you, Mr.
Kennedy.” Nicole smiled politely, trying to remain composed in the face of the unexpected attention.
Ms.
Emerson, still somewhat surprised, gave Nicole a quick look-over before speaking again.
“Well, I must say, you certainly don’t look like you’re from the countryside.” She quickly added, “But I’m sure you’ll adjust just fine in Class A.”
Nicole nodded, not giving away any sign of discomfort.
“Thank you.”
Mr.
Kennedy cleared his throat and gave a polite nod, his glasses gleaming slightly.
“It’s our pleasure to have you in Class A, Nicole.
I believe you’ll be an asset to the class.”
Nicole smiled again, grateful for the warm reception despite her nervousness.
Ms.
Farrell, who had been observing the interaction, smiled approvingly.
“Since you’re familiar with your options now, Nicole, why don’t you take a moment to decide?”
Nicole thought for a moment, then made her choice.
“I’ll go with Mr.
Kennedy’s class, thank you.”
Ms.
Farrell nodded.
“Very well, I’ll make the necessary arrangements for you.
You’ll be joining Class A starting today.”
After the formalities were handled, Nicole left the office, feeling both a sense of accomplishment and a slight nervousness about her new environment.
Walking down the hallway, she couldn’t help but notice a few curious glances from students who had no doubt already heard about her transfer.
As she walked toward her new classroom, Nicole thought about her family and the pressure that seemed to always hang over her.
But she was determined to prove herself—not just to her family, but to herself as well.
She had come this far, and now, she was going to make her place at Royal Creek Institute count.
