Chapter 43
Previously, it had gone viral on the internet that Nicole, the new transfer student, was a hundred times prettier than the current campus queen, Snow.
While Snow maintained a calm facade, she was secretly furious, tearing apart a book in her hands.
It was bad enough that she had been placed next to Raine for campus queen, but now Nicole’s arrival threatened to take her title away.
Snow glanced at Jack and saw that he was with Gary’s clique.
She knew better than to cross the Finleys, so she kept her frustrations to herself—at least for now.
As Snow thought of something, her eyes gleamed with a sly smile.
If a certain person were around, the mockery she faced would seem insignificant.
Nicole, however, wasn’t fazed by the gossip and glanced at Snow, asking, “Why are you suddenly inviting me to lunch?” Nicole knew Snow wasn’t the type to casually invite someone for a meal, especially not after all the drama involving Snow and Raine.
Snow smiled and answered, “It’s your first day.
Of course, I had to come and see you.” Nicole raised an eyebrow.
“Is that all?”
“Yeah,” Snow replied with her usual smile.
Nicole, now more curious about Snow’s hidden agenda, simply said, “Let’s go then,” eager to see what Snow was really after.
During their walk to the canteen, Snow bombarded Nicole with questions, checking if she was comfortable at the school.
Nicole responded with short answers, giving off the impression that Snow was being very kind.
However, Nicole wasn’t fooled.
After all, gossip was Snow’s favorite pastime, and she didn’t want to give her any chance to badmouth her.
But the colder Nicole acted, the more strained Snow’s expression became, and onlookers began to think Nicole was bullying the campus queen.
A few students took photos of the interaction and posted them on the campus blog, framing the situation in a way that made it seem like Nicole was mistreating Snow.
The posts quickly gained traction.
“Wow! This Nicole is really shameless.
Our campus queen was being kind to a country bumpkin like her, and she not only didn’t appreciate it, but she also bullied her into tears?” “Exactly.
No matter how pretty she is, it’s the personality that matters.
Snow’s gentleness can’t be compared to her coldness.”
Soon, the topic of who would win the campus king and queen title was also discussed.
“It’ll definitely be Snow!” “Same here!” Nicole, unaware of the commotion online, didn’t let the attention bother her.
She and Snow sat down in the canteen, surrounded by curious gazes.
Nicole hated the atmosphere but endured it, choosing to eat her meal in silence.
Snow, on the other hand, basked in the attention.
She smiled, thinking she looked elegant, as she sat in front of Nicole.
She secretly checked her phone and saw that the internet was full of people bashing Nicole.
Snow’s smile widened, pleased that her hired photographer had done a great job framing the situation.
With Nicole now in trouble, Snow no longer had to worry about losing her title as campus queen.
She felt a sense of relief from the comments the boys had made in class earlier.
Before Nicole could pick up her spoon, Snow’s voice broke the silence, sweet yet annoying.
“Nicole, did you get on the bad side of Celia’s boyfriend? Yesterday, Celia said she’d ask her boyfriend to give you a good beating.
You didn’t get into trouble, did you?”
Nicole immediately understood the implication.
So, Cain was Celia’s boyfriend.
No wonder Snow had come over.
It seemed like Snow was here to gossip about how she had been bullied.
Nicole smirked and coldly glanced at Snow, replying, “…
