Chapter_50
Jasper’s jaw clenched as he watched Silas and Alyssa in the car. The jealousy gnawed at him as he realized just how close they were. The playful banter between the siblings, the way Silas effortlessly teased Alyssa—it stung in a way he hadn’t expected. Why does she never smile at me like that? he thought bitterly. It had always been one-sided with Alice, a painful realization that still lingered, especially now when he was confronted with this new dynamic between her and Silas.
Xavier glanced nervously at Jasper, his boss’s dark expression clearly unsettling him. He knew Jasper well enough to recognize the storm brewing in his eyes, but he also couldn’t help but feel that maybe Alice’s closeness to her brother had no ulterior motive. Still, the situation was too loaded for Xavier to make any assumptions. “I didn’t realize your ex had such a strong bond with her brother,” he remarked quietly, trying to gauge Jasper’s response.
Jasper was still staring out of the window, his mind swirling with a mixture of frustration and confusion. Silas… Jonah… Is there something more I don’t know about them? His fingers tightened on the seat. The situation was spiraling out of control, and every revelation seemed to add another layer of complexity.
Meanwhile, in the car with Alyssa, Silas leaned back, clearly enjoying the light-hearted moment with his sister. But the conversation soon turned back to business, and Alyssa’s expression became more serious. “I need you to help me with what’s coming too,” she said, her voice firm. Her eyes were sharp, calculating, as she shifted her focus. It was clear that despite her playful demeanor, Alyssa was a force to be reckoned with. She wasn’t just the charming and beautiful woman everyone saw—there was a ruthless strategist behind that smile.
Silas, noticing the shift, nodded with understanding. “Don’t worry. He’s already done enough damage, and with Michael’s help, we have all the leverage we need to keep him locked up. Three years in jail? That’s just the beginning. I’ll make sure Dylan never gets away with this.”
Alyssa’s eyes sparkled with a quiet satisfaction. “Good. I won’t let him off the hook either. He’s not the only one who can play the game.”
Jasper’s thoughts snapped back to the conversation in the car when Silas spoke. So they’re already planning their next move. The realization struck him hard—he had underestimated Alyssa and her connections. This wasn’t just a simple corporate rivalry. There were deep ties at play here, ties that ran far beyond the surface-level drama he had been caught up in.
And now with Silas, a man of power and influence, openly working with her, the stakes had grown higher. Alyssa had orchestrated the downfall of the Gardner Group with such precision, and Dylan’s fall was just the beginning. He hadn’t been the only one who’d underestimated her. As Silas mentioned, she had made it all so predictable for them. Gardner fell right into her trap, he thought bitterly.
Alyssa turned her attention back to Silas with a grin, pride evident in her voice. “I have to admit, you’re a good asset to have in all this.”
Silas chuckled, clearly enjoying her praise. “And I’ll keep being a useful asset. But remember, without your sharp mind, none of this would have been possible. You really know how to turn the tables.”
Alyssa’s smile softened, but her eyes were focused. “There’s still a lot left to do,” she said, her tone sharpening. “Let’s make sure that everyone who needs to pay… does.”
Jasper’s grip on the car seat tightened as he processed their words. She’s not just playing a game. She’s playing for keeps.
