Chapter 97
Bonnie slipped into Jim’s coat when she heard his warning. She had learned from experience, especially when she once had a fever. The old professors at the research institute had treated her like a child, lecturing her about the importance of health.
“You’re a pillar of our nation, Ms. Bonita. You can’t afford to be sick.”
“You might be young and strong now, but you still have to take care of yourself. Otherwise, you’ll regret it when you’re old.”
“I told the kitchen to make some herbal soup for you. Make sure you drink it. And you should try to sleep at the same time every night. It’s good to sleep and wake early. Your nutritional balance is important as well.”
Though the professors respected her work, they were relentless when it came to her health. They didn’t hesitate to lecture her as if they were her grandparents.
Suddenly, Jim’s tone turned serious. “Something’s wrong.”
Bonnie snapped back to attention. “What do you mean?”
Jim’s eyes were fixed on the rear-view mirror. “Check out that car. I think it’s been following us for a while.”
Bonnie hadn’t noticed the car, but she trusted Jim’s instincts. “Do you think the driver is the same person who took our pictures?”
“It’s possible.”
Bonnie tapped her chin thoughtfully, her eyes sharp with insight. “I don’t care if he just took our pictures, but if he’s following us, there’s probably more to it. This road leads to the Knight Villa. The Knights own this area, and there aren’t usually cars around here.”
Jim nodded. “You have a point. What should we do?”
Bonnie’s lips curled into a smirk as she eyed the rear-view mirror. “Turn around and ram into it.”
Jim blinked in disbelief. “Huh?”
Bonnie’s excitement was palpable. “Are you serious?”
“Don’t you think this is exciting?” she said, caught up in the thrill of the moment. If she were driving, she would’ve already turned the car around.
Jim frowned. “You’re in the car, though.”
“I’ll be fine. Ram it!” Bonnie urged.
Jim gritted his teeth, clearly reluctant but also understanding the necessity. “Hold on tight.”
“Alright,” she said, ready for what was to come.
Meanwhile, Ivor had just received an update from Floyd and was observing through a telescope, as he often did when something seemed off. From his vantage point, he saw the car behind Bonnie’s, confirming his suspicions.
Who in the world was following them?
His thoughts were interrupted when Bonnie’s car suddenly turned around, accelerating and ramming into the other vehicle.
The sound of the crash echoed loudly through the night.
Ivor’s eyes widened in shock, then filled with fury. If anything happened to Bonnie, he would make sure the stalker would wish he’d never been born.
Putting down the telescope, Ivor stormed downstairs, heading toward the cars.
Floyd, equally stunned, had never expected Bonnie’s car to turn around and ram into the other vehicle without hesitation. The audacity of it! And Jim, without a second thought, had rammed the car, showing no concern for Bonnie’s safety.
Bonnie quickly opened the car door as Jim got out and seized the man who had been about to escape.
“Talk. What are you doing? Why are you following me? Are you the one who took pictures of us in the pedestrian zone?” Jim demanded, gripping the man by his collar.
The man, Lane, was disoriented from the crash but was terrified of Jim.
“T—There’s been a misunderstanding. I’m not following you. I’m just—”
“How dare you!” Jim yanked harder, nearly choking him.
