Chapter 100
Ivor finally let go of his suspicions, realizing that Jim wasn’t lying. He knew Bonnie was more than capable of handling the situation, but he was still worried she might be upset with him.
Turning his gaze toward Lane, Ivor asked, “How are you going to handle him?”
Bonnie raised an eyebrow and looked at the trembling man. “Call Trina,” she said, her voice calm but firm.
Lane gulped nervously. “W–What should I say?”
Bonnie rolled her eyes. “Just call her. I’ll do the talking.”
“Alright.” Lane quickly dialed Trina, his hands shaking slightly. When she picked up, her voice was excited. “How did it go? Did you find something?”
Bonnie grabbed the phone from Lane’s hand and spoke into it with a cool, unwavering tone. “If you wanted to know where I was staying, you should’ve asked me directly. I can’t believe you wasted money on hiring someone.”
Trina’s heart skipped a beat, and she almost hung up in panic, but before she could, Bonnie’s voice came through again.
“Don’t hang up just yet. You can’t run away from everything. If you do, I’ll make sure to tell the whole country that you hired someone to follow Jim and locate Ms. Bonita. I’ll tell them you’re trying to harm her, too. That alone will…”
“You wouldn’t!” Trina snapped, fury bubbling up inside her. Her voice trembled with rage. “How dare you accuse me like that?”
Bonnie’s laughter was calm, almost mocking. “Why wouldn’t I? You dared to put Ms. Bonita in harm’s way. What do I have to fear?”
“That’s a load of crap!” Trina screamed into the phone. “Stop slandering me! I admire Ms. Bonita! There’s no way I’d do anything terrible to her! You’re crossing a line, Bonnie. If you don’t have proof, this is slander, and I’ll press charges against you!”
Bonnie smirked. “How do you know I don’t have proof? Jim’s a witness. It’s a fact you hired someone to follow him. Lane will be more than happy to admit it.”
“Bullshit!” Trina’s voice cracked. “I didn’t hire anyone to follow Master Jim. I sent him to follow you! Don’t drag anyone else into this. And for the record, you’re out there sleeping with other men!”
Bonnie leaned casually against the car, unfazed. “Do you think anyone will believe you? Jim’s identity is a sensitive topic. He’s Ms. Bonita’s personal bodyguard. Do you really think anyone will take your words seriously, especially in court?”
Trina’s anger flared even hotter, her voice rising to a fever pitch. “Why, you—! You’re… Ahhh! Damn you, Bonnie! You obnoxious witch! You know that’s not true, but you still want to ruin me! How could you be so vicious?”
Bonnie’s expression remained calm, almost bored. “Am I the vicious one? If this is what you call vicious, then you’ve set the bar pretty high, Trina. I still remember everything from when I first came here from the suburbs. You nearly threw your life away, falling down the stairs on purpose and blaming me for it. You even smashed a vase on your head just so our parents would punish me.”
She took a step closer to the phone, her voice steady. “I lost count of how many times you’d put your things in my room and then accused me of stealing them. You’ve always been the one to play these games, Trina.”
Trina’s face turned bright red with fury. “Hmph! Don’t blame everything on me! You tried to explain everything to them, but they never believed you! Even when you showed them security footage, I just told them you forged it, and they believed me. So if you want to blame anyone, blame the fact that I’m their favorite!”
She raised her head, her tone full of false righteousness.
