Chapter 85
Hadwin shook his head in disbelief. He had agreed to bring Bonnie inside because she was supposedly the city’s Best Scholar. But in the end, she was just another fool. Bonnie might be pretty, and she might have aced her SATs, but she wasn’t worthy of his attention.
Trina and Hadwin exchanged glances, both expecting Bonnie to embarrass herself. They waited for the security or the waitstaff to stop her at the door, but to their surprise, she walked right in. The security guards didn’t even raise an eyebrow. In fact, they bowed to her.
What was going on?
Hadwin and Trina stood in stunned silence, confusion written all over their faces.
“Come on, let’s go,” Hadwin said, snapping out of his daze.
By the time they entered the hotel, Bonnie was already long gone.
“Could she have some kind of connection to someone here?” Trina asked, still in shock.
Hadwin’s face darkened. “She’s so shameless. I can’t believe she sold herself out just to eat here. Forget about her. She’s killing the mood. Let’s just find out where Ms. Bonita is.”
“Okay,” Trina replied, clenching her fists in frustration. This was the reason they had come in the first place.
However, before they could make much progress, they were distracted by two stunning men entering the hotel. One of them had an aloof air about him, while the other was dressed like a wealthy aristocrat. Both of them were exceptionally handsome.
The aloof man, in particular, was striking. His sharp features and delicate eyebrows gave him an otherworldly allure. Trina almost lost control and screamed in awe.
Hadwin noticed her reaction and followed her gaze. His brow furrowed as he took in the two men.
“What are you looking at, Trina?” he asked, his tone tense.
Trina quickly regained composure and responded hastily, “Do they look familiar to you, Hadwin?”
Hadwin scanned the two men. The one dressed in the black suit didn’t seem familiar. “Now that you mention it, the guy in the blue suit does seem a little familiar. I feel like I’ve seen him somewhere.”
Trina’s eyes widened. “Really? Who is he? Is he someone important in high society?”
Hadwin racked his brain but couldn’t place the man’s face. “I’m not sure. They’ve already gone anyway. We should focus on finding Ms. Bonita.”
“Yeah, sure,” Trina replied, trying to hide her frustration.
Meanwhile, the man in the blue suit, who was Ged, glanced over at Hadwin and Trina and quickly turned his gaze away.
“Isn’t that Bonnie’s ex-fiancé, Ivor?” Ged asked nonchalantly.
Ivor nodded slightly, not even bothering to look back. “Yeah, that’s him.”
Ged raised an eyebrow. “Don’t you have something to say to him? Like, maybe tell him how ignorant he is or thank him for giving Bonnie away?”
Ivor shrugged dismissively. “They were never close to begin with. Bonnie never liked him. Why would I waste my time on a nobody?”
Ged chuckled. “I guess you’re right.” He paused for a moment before adding, “By the way, today’s the anniversary of Ms. Bonita’s research institute. Funny how they’re having a meal here right now.”
Ivor stopped in his tracks, his curiosity piqued. “How do you know?”
Ged grinned smugly. “Heh! I spent the whole night playing League of Legends with Ms. Bonita. She told me.”
“Wait, you’ve been playing games together?” Ivor asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Bingo!” Ged said with a triumphant smirk. “Aren’t you jealous of me?”
