Chapter 83
“I see you’ve heard about that,” William said with a smirk.
“Of course. I’m the founder of the SR League, after all,” William replied, his eyes narrowing slightly. “How about I give you a hand and remove Ivor for you, Bonnie?”
Bonnie dismissed the suggestion with a wave of her hand. “My engagement with him ends in a few more days. We’ll go our separate ways and have nothing to do with each other after that.”
William’s expression softened, as though relieved. “Oh, that’s great.”
Bonnie stood up, glancing at the clock. “It’s getting late. I’m going to hang up now.”
“Sure. Don’t let me keep you from your beauty sleep,” he teased, before ending the call.
Immediately, William turned to his assistant. “Is there anything you need, Mr. William?” the assistant asked, stepping forward.
“Arrange a routine check on my private plane. I’m flying to Pyralis in a few days.”
The assistant raised an eyebrow, puzzled. “Why are you flying there, Mr. William?”
William flashed a mischievous grin. “I’m going to get myself a wife.”
The assistant couldn’t help but shudder. Bonnie, miles away, suddenly felt a chill run down her spine. Was someone talking about her? She shrugged it off and decided to take a shower to wash away the eerie feeling.
Meanwhile, at Flynn’s house, frustration boiled over. He paced back and forth, his face red with anger. “How the hell did you guys fail? Didn’t I tell you to hire professional hitmen? How did he defeat all of you? There were more than a dozen men! Why is it so hard to finish off a single bodyguard?”
One of the servants, trembling in fear, explained, “Floyd was there too.”
Flynn snapped back. “I know Floyd! Floyd is a powerful fighter, but he was outnumbered. You had more than a dozen hitmen with you. Why couldn’t you take care of both of them? Tim’s just a rookie bodyguard, too.”
The servant hesitated, his voice shaky. “There’s something you don’t know, Mr. Flynn. I just investigated Tim. He may be new to the bodyguard business, but he managed to hold his own against Floyd.”
Flynn’s brow furrowed, his disbelief evident. “Is he really that good?”
“That’s not all,” the servant continued. “The bodyguard who ran from the scene told me that Tim’s a better fighter than Floyd. He even used the Soaring Cannon.”
Flynn’s eyes widened. “Are you trying to fool me? Floyd is Ivor’s most capable servant. He’s efficient at his work, and his combat prowess is extraordinarily powerful. Are you telling me that Tim is better than him?”
The servant paused, hesitant. “Wait a minute… the Soaring Cannon… Why does that sound so familiar?”
Flynn’s suspicion grew. “It’s Master Jim’s signature move,” the servant responded.
“Master Jim?!” Flynn exclaimed, taken aback.
“That’s right. The Soaring Cannon is his signature move.”
Flynn’s mind raced as he pieced the puzzle together. “I remember watching one of Jim’s matches. The Soaring Cannon was devastating—it took out multiple opponents at once. A lot of people have tried to copy that move, but none of them could pull it off. How did Tim manage to do it? Could he be related to Master Jim somehow?”
He paused, staring at the servant as an idea began to form. “Investigate Tim’s background. Let me know the second you find something.”
“I’m on it,” the servant replied before hurriedly leaving the room.
Flynn’s mind was already working overtime, consumed by the mystery of Tim’s true identity. The pieces were starting to fall into place, and he had a feeling that this was just the beginning of a much bigger story.
