Chapter 76
Jim charged toward them, but Bonnie shot him a sharp look.
He couldn’t take it anymore.
When Bonnie realized Jim hadn’t backed down, she frowned and silently mouthed the words: Wait and see what happens next.
Jim, reading her lips, had no choice but to grit his teeth, clench his fists, and stand still.
Ivor cast a cold, sweeping glance over the crowd before his eyes landed on Sydney. His voice was unwavering as he declared, “Bonnie and I will be married forever. Our unwavering love will stand the test of time.”
His words were filled with conviction, a statement of his seriousness. The entire room fell silent, realizing he wasn’t joking. Ivor meant it.
Bonnie’s eyes widened in shock as she stared at him.
From the second floor, Sigmund watched the scene unfold with excitement. “Ivor finally sees what I saw!” he murmured to himself. He speculated that Ivor must have uncovered some of Bonnie’s secrets during their time together. What he wasn’t sure of was whether Ivor had figured out her true identity as Ms. Bonita.
“A-Are you serious?” Sydney stammered, taken aback by Ivor’s bold words.
Ivor nodded solemnly. “It’s what Grandpa and I both want.”
Bonnie, still processing, whispered, “Why didn’t you run this by me?”
Ivor turned to meet her gaze, his eyes filled with deep affection. “I’m doing it now.”
She frowned, her voice steady but resolute. “I won’t agree to this. Our engagement is ending soon. I’ll leave once it’s over. You’ll have your life, and I’ll have mine.”
“What does that have to do with me trying to win your heart?” Ivor replied, his tone soft yet earnest.
Bonnie locked eyes with him, a cloud of tension and chemistry hanging in the air between them. Was he just playing along? Had he taken it too far, or was this real? She couldn’t quite figure it out.
Their conversation was quiet enough that no one could hear the words, but the atmosphere spoke volumes. They were so close, it was impossible not to notice the connection between them. The guests around them slowly began turning their gaze toward Flynn.
“Didn’t Flynn say Bonnie seduced him? He claimed Ivor didn’t want anything to do with her. But look at them now—so sweet together.”
“Ivor confessed his love so openly. There’s no way she’d give up on him to seduce Flynn.”
“You’ve got a point. Looks like Flynn lied. But why would he do that? Why frame Bonnie?”
“And why did she kick him in the groin?”
“Isn’t it obvious? Flynn’s got a messy private life. He’s a real pervert. He must’ve had his eye on Bonnie, but he didn’t know Ivor was the one who truly loved her. He tried to steal Ivor’s fiancée, and well, he hit a brick wall instead.”
Flynn, overhearing the gossip, clenched his fists. His anger simmered as he decided to keep lying.
“You have to believe me, Ivor. She did try to seduce me. I thought maybe it was because she felt insecure about her relationship with you and saw me as a backup option.”
His voice shook with feigned sincerity. “I swear I didn’t lie. If I did, may heaven strike me down, sever my descendants, and let me suffer a horrible death!”
