Chapter 19
“I told you you’d be sorry if you showed up.”
Bonnie didn’t flinch. Her gaze was calm, unwavering, as she sized up the two burly bodyguards in front of her. Do they really think they can stop me?
“Why not?” Maisie sneered, her voice cold and commanding. “They’re the best of the best. You’d better come with me now, and I’ll let you go after the engagement party. If you don’t cooperate, we’ll show you no mercy.”
Bonnie glanced at her watch, unbothered. “The party’s starting soon, and I’m never late to anything. You’d better leave with your men now, or I’ll show you no mercy.”
Maisie’s lips twisted into a cruel smile. “Fine. You asked for this.”
She stepped back and nodded to her bodyguards. “Seize her, but try not to hurt her.”
“Yes, ma’am,” they grunted in response.
Without hesitation, the two massive men reached out to grab Bonnie. But before they could lay a hand on her, she was already in motion. In one smooth, fluid movement, Bonnie threw a powerful roundhouse kick, sending one of the bodyguards tumbling over the other. They crashed to the ground, groaning and struggling to get back up.
Maisie’s eyes went wide in shock. “You know kickboxing?”
Bonnie raised an eyebrow, her expression a mix of amusement and challenge. “Are you sure your bodyguards are the best of the best?” she taunted. “They let their guard down, that’s all. It doesn’t mean you’re any good.”
Maisie’s fury ignited. “Get up!” she snapped, glaring at the men sprawled on the floor.
The bodyguards scrambled to their feet, their pride wounded. They had clearly underestimated Bonnie and now knew they had to redeem themselves, or their reputations would be tarnished. This time, they weren’t holding back.
They attacked from both sides, moving with a speed that should have been difficult for anyone to keep up with. But Bonnie was faster. In a blur, she darted behind one of the guards, slipping past him like a shadow.
“What the fuck?” he muttered, his eyes wide with disbelief. Before he could react, Bonnie delivered a swift blow to the back of his neck, knocking him out cold in an instant.
The second bodyguard froze in place, his mind racing as he processed the speed and precision of her attack. His confidence shattered, he was caught in a moment of hesitation.
Maisie, furious, shouted, “What are you standing there for? Attack!”
The bodyguard growled, shaking off his uncertainty. He lunged at Bonnie, throwing a punch with everything he had, determined to take her down.
Bonnie barely moved, sidestepping the punch with ease. She countered swiftly, driving her foot into his stomach. The bodyguard flew backward, slamming into the wall with a sickening thud, his body crumpling to the floor as he passed out.
Maisie stood stock-still, her eyes wide in disbelief. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing—her best men, defeated with such ease.
Bonnie took a step forward, her expression calm but intense. She walked right up to Maisie, who was still reeling from the shock.
“Will you get out of my way now?” Bonnie asked coolly.
Maisie’s face twisted in anger, her body stiff with fury. “I must admit I underestimated you,” she said, her voice grating with frustration. “But I can’t let you go no matter what.”
Bonnie didn’t flinch, standing tall and steady. “Do you think you can stop me?” she said with a slight smirk, her confidence unwavering.
Maisie’s hands clenched into fists at her sides. I won’t let her ruin everything. Her mind raced, but there was no escape now—Bonnie had made it clear she wasn’t afraid of her.
“Try me,” Bonnie said, the words dripping with a mixture of challenge and resolve.
It was clear to both of them—this fight wasn’t over.
