Chapter 88
Eden watched the interaction with a mixture of amusement and disbelief. She had always known that Anson had a playful side, but seeing him so flustered and nervous was a different experience altogether. It wasn’t like him to be so fixated on a woman, especially not one who had already declared she was taken.
Abigail, on the other hand, handled the situation with grace, her cold expression hiding any sign of discomfort. She clearly didn’t mind Anson’s attention, but Eden could tell that she wasn’t about to indulge him. It was an interesting dynamic—Abigail was unbothered by his advances, and Anson, despite his usual confidence, was clearly put off by her icy demeanor.
Victor, who had been observing the entire scene with a bemused expression, cleared his throat, likely sensing the awkwardness mounting. “Anson,” he said, his voice slightly sharper than usual, “you’re wasting time with trivialities. We’re here for business.”
Anson, still blushing from his earlier embarrassment, nodded quickly and straightened up. “Right, right. Business.” He took a step back, glancing at Abigail one last time before returning his attention to the matter at hand.
Eden couldn’t suppress a small smile. It was rare to see Anson so disarmed by someone, and she couldn’t help but find it a bit funny. Still, it was clear that the situation was getting increasingly uncomfortable. She decided to steer the conversation back on track.
“So,” Eden began, looking directly at Victor, her voice steady, “if Ricky is the spokesperson for the children’s clothing line, what exactly do you need from me today?”
Victor, finally redirecting his focus from Anson’s behavior, leaned forward, his eyes locking onto hers. “We’re meeting with the representative to finalize details. I wanted you to be here to approve the designs and ensure that everything aligns with your vision for the brand.”
Eden nodded, mentally shifting gears as she considered the task at hand. It wasn’t unexpected, but the timing was a little unusual. She had already been handling her own workload, and the addition of overseeing the children’s clothing line felt like more than just a minor responsibility.
Ricky, who had been unusually quiet until now, spoke up from across the room, his tone playful yet serious. “I’ll make sure to do my best to represent the brand well, Mom.” His words caught Eden off guard. She hadn’t realized just how much he was involved in the process, but she smiled warmly, proud of her son.
Abigail, noticing the brief exchange between Eden and Ricky, let out a soft laugh. “You’ve got a great little model there, Director Bleu,” she said, her voice dripping with mock sweetness. “I’m sure he’ll be a hit with the public.”
Eden shot Abigail a sharp look, but before she could respond, Victor spoke again, this time his voice steady but carrying a hint of authority. “Enough with the pleasantries. Let’s focus on the business at hand. We can discuss other matters later.”
The room fell silent as everyone took their seats and prepared for the meeting. Eden couldn’t shake the feeling that things were shifting around her—Victor’s sudden attention to detail, the strange dynamic between Anson and Abigail, and the growing responsibility that was being thrust upon her. There was something about the way the pieces were falling into place that made her uneasy.
She took a deep breath and steadied herself. Whatever was coming, she would face it head-on. After all, she had never been one to back down from a challenge.
