Chapter 72
Victor’s fingers clenched into fists, his anger simmering beneath the surface. Adonis had always been stubborn, but this was crossing a line. He had made it clear to his friend that he was offering him a deal for a three-story villa, and yet Adonis was acting like this was some sort of joke. The frustration bubbled up inside him as he reread the message from Adonis, his jaw tightening with irritation.
On the other hand, Eden was unaware of the storm brewing within Victor. Her face lit up with excitement as she shared the good news, her eyes sparkling as she spoke about the villa. To her, it seemed like everything was falling into place. It was a perfect opportunity, one she didn’t think she could pass up, and Jasper had made it sound so easy.
Victor, however, wasn’t quite convinced. His mind raced as he processed everything. The coincidence was too much to ignore. Jasper’s timing, the way the story mirrored his own plan—it was all too perfect. Could Jasper have known about his intentions? Or was it all just a strange twist of fate?
“Are you sure about this, Miss Bleu?” Victor asked, his voice betraying none of the storm brewing inside him. He forced a calm, collected expression onto his face, his tone betraying none of his inner turmoil. “The villa sounds like a great opportunity, but I want you to make sure you’re comfortable with the deal. Don’t rush into anything.”
Eden nodded enthusiastically. “I’ve thought it through, Mr. Alwynn. This is a great opportunity. The house is exactly what I’ve been looking for. And at the right price! I’ll be able to move in without too much strain. I’m really grateful for Jasper’s help in connecting me to the seller.”
Victor gave a small, tight-lipped smile, his thoughts still racing. He knew he couldn’t let this go without a few words of caution. “I understand your excitement, Miss Bleu, but remember, not everything that seems like a good deal is one. Take your time to double-check everything. Make sure all the details are in order, and the seller is legitimate.”
Eden nodded again, her excitement still evident in her voice. “I will, Mr. Alwynn. Thanks for your concern.”
Victor remained quiet for a moment, lost in his thoughts. He had no choice but to let her move forward with the deal, even though something about it didn’t sit well with him. He couldn’t shake the feeling that Jasper was somehow playing both sides—and that Adonis’ refusal to sell the villa at his suggested price was just a step in a much larger game.
Victor needed to regain control. He had been too lenient with Adonis, and now it seemed like he had been too lax with Eden, too. If she moved forward with this purchase, it could complicate things in ways he wasn’t ready for. He needed to find out more, to ensure that no one was taking advantage of her. That meant confronting Adonis—and possibly Jasper too.
But for now, Eden was too caught up in the moment, too thrilled by the idea of her new home. She couldn’t possibly know the web that was starting to weave around her.
“Good luck with the house, Miss Bleu,” Victor said after a long pause, his gaze turning cold for just a moment. “I hope everything works out well for you and your children.”
Eden smiled, her gratitude shining through. “Thank you, Mr. Alwynn. I really appreciate everything you’ve done.”
Victor managed a tight smile, though his mind was already far away. The game had begun. And this time, he wouldn’t let anyone outplay him.
