Chapter 59
Victor’s thoughts swirled as he stared at the two photos, the weight of the situation crashing down on him. The resemblance between Henrick and his younger self was uncanny. How could he not have known? His mind kept returning to Eden, to Cyan, and to the child who might—just might—be his. His heart ached with the realization of everything that could have been kept hidden for so long.
As Anson’s words echoed in his ears, the pieces of the puzzle began to fall into place. Henrick, a child star, had won the piano competition, signed a movie deal, and was now a rising star under Abigail Joye’s guidance. His resemblance to Victor as a child was undeniable. And the connection between Eden, Abigail, and Jasper… it all pointed toward something Victor wasn’t ready to face.
“Do you really think he’s mine?” Victor’s voice was hoarse, the question slipping out before he could stop himself. His mind reeled with the thought of Eden keeping a secret like this—of her having a child, a child who could be his.
Anson didn’t hesitate, though the gravity of the moment was clear in his eyes. “It’s very possible, Victor. The evidence fits. The timing, the secrecy, the fact that Henrick doesn’t know his father… All signs point to Eden being his mother. And if that’s true, then everything changes.”
Victor stood, pacing back and forth as he digested the information. The idea of Eden having a child with him—without him even knowing—stirred up emotions he couldn’t explain. Guilt, anger, confusion. He thought of all the years that had passed, all the time they’d spent apart, and now, this. A child? His child?
He ran a hand through his hair, trying to focus. “But why wouldn’t she tell me? Why would she hide this from me? If Henrick is mine, I should have known.”
Anson shrugged, his tone neutral but thoughtful. “Maybe she was forced to hide it. Maybe Jasper and Abigail had something to do with it. They’re both powerful, and if they wanted to keep her past a secret, it wouldn’t be hard. Eden might have had her reasons. Maybe she didn’t want you to know. But now, it looks like fate is pushing you to face the truth.”
Victor’s chest tightened as he tried to wrap his head around everything. “Eden… She was there for me when I was a child. She knew my pain. She was my comfort.”
Anson’s voice softened as he spoke, sensing the change in Victor’s demeanor. “You’ve always had a connection to her, even if you didn’t realize it. It’s why you’re so restless now. And if Henrick really is yours, you need to find out. You owe it to him, and to Eden, to uncover the truth.”
Victor’s heart raced at the thought of Henrick being his son, a little boy he never knew existed. He’d always wondered if he would ever have a family of his own, but never in his wildest dreams did he think it would come like this. He thought of Eden, the warmth of their moments together, the fleeting connection that had always lingered between them. If Henrick was indeed his, that connection would deepen in ways he couldn’t yet imagine.
“I have to know, Anson,” Victor finally said, his voice firm, determination setting in. “I need to know the truth. I’ll go to River City, find Henrick, and get answers from Eden. I won’t let this go until I know for sure.”
Anson nodded, his expression turning serious as he watched Victor’s resolve harden. “I’ll help you with everything you need, Victor. But be prepared. If Henrick is really yours, it’s going to change everything. And Eden, well, she might not be as ready for that as you are.”
Victor turned to face him, his gaze unwavering. “I don’t care. I’m not letting anything stand in my way. I’ve spent too long searching for answers, and now it’s time to find them. I’m going to find my son—and Eden.”
