Godsent
I fought desperately, my strength waning with each passing second. The men were relentless, and no matter how much I struggled, it felt as though my body was betraying me. Their hands were rough, like claws, tearing at my clothes, and the terror overwhelmed me. My body trembled uncontrollably as I cried out in desperation, “Get away… Help me…”
The more I screamed, the more powerless I felt. They were relentless, like animals driven by some primal urge, and I could barely muster the strength to push back. My body was no longer responding to my will. One of the men had already undone my jeans, and the other was pulling them down.
Then, just as the weight of despair threatened to crush me entirely, the door crashed open with a deafening noise. The sound shook the room, and my heart surged with a desperate hope. Someone had arrived.
“Help me…” I cried out, my voice raw, my limbs sluggish with exhaustion. The world felt like it was spinning out of control.
“Let go of me… Help!” I screamed, clawing at the hands that gripped me with brutal force.
Then, I heard a voice—a voice that anchored me to reality.
“Chloe, don’t be scared. It’s me!”
The voice, familiar and warm, swept over me like a lifeline. Strong arms enveloped me, offering safety, comfort, and the promise of protection. I sobbed, feeling the security of his presence flood through me.
“Don’t be afraid. I’m here!” he whispered, his voice soft, grounding me in the chaos.
I clung to him like a drowning person grabbing onto a lifeline, whispering desperately, “Hold me. Please don’t leave…”
With a swift motion, Atlas took off his jacket and wrapped it around me. His body was warm and reassuring, and as he lifted me into his arms, I felt a surge of safety like I had never known.
“I’m taking you to the hospital,” he said, his voice firm but gentle.
“No… Help me…” I murmured, my mind foggy, my body writhing as though it were under an endless assault. It felt like ants crawling under my skin, biting me relentlessly. My limbs felt like they were on fire. I pressed my trembling body against his, seeking his warmth, wanting to lose myself in it.
He moved my hands away gently but firmly and wrapped his clothes more securely around me, ensuring I couldn’t move. Then, with strength that made me feel protected, he carried me outside, away from the nightmare that Melanie had set in motion.
When I woke up, the fog that clouded my mind had lifted, and I found myself lying in a hospital bed. The sterile smell of the room was a stark contrast to the darkness of what had just happened. An IV was hooked to my hand, and I felt a dull ache in my limbs. As my eyes focused, I saw Atlas sitting by my bedside, watching me with a small, meaningful smile.
I felt a deep flush of embarrassment at the memory of my earlier vulnerability, and I quickly avoided his gaze. He caught my eye, his smile still present but soft.
“I told you I’d never take advantage of you when you’re vulnerable. Only when you’re sober and willing,” he said, his voice teasing but with a hint of genuine care.
I rolled my eyes, both grateful and mortified. “Could you be less shameless? That was an abnormal situation. It’s so embarrassing!”
He chuckled loudly, his brilliant smile lighting up the room, making everything seem a little less dark. “How’d you know I was there?” I asked, my curiosity piqued despite the exhaustion.
His gaze turned slightly serious, though the warmth never left his face. “The heavens sent me to rescue you! So, don’t question it.” His tone was playful, but there was a deep sincerity in his words.
I closed my eyes in relief, a sigh escaping my lips. “Thank goodness I made that call.”
“Why’d you hang up then?” Atlas asked, his tone gentle but curious, as though he wanted to understand.
Tears rolled down my cheeks as I looked up at him, overwhelmed by the memory of what happened. “Because they were investigating you! I didn’t want to get you into trouble.”
Atlas simply brushed it off, a slight shrug in his shoulders. “Let them investigate all they want. I’ll deal with it.”
I sniffled, grateful and shaking at the same time. “Thanks for saving me again.”
“You’re so naive,” he said softly, wiping away the tear that escaped from my eye. “It’s because you underestimated them.”
I closed my eyes again, taking a deep breath. “I didn’t expect them to be so cruel. I didn’t want to resort to extreme measures, but they left me no choice.”
Atlas nodded, his expression turning more serious, his eyes intense with understanding. “I won’t start trouble, but since they provoked you, I won’t hold back.”
After everything that had happened, the trust I had in Atlas was absolute. He had been my savior in that moment of pure darkness, and as I lay there, recovering from the shock, I felt an unwavering sense of loyalty and gratitude to him.
I took a deep breath, steadying myself. “Matthew’s plan,” I started, my voice steady now. “I need to tell you everything. Melanie’s actions have given me the best counterattack strategy.”
Atlas’s expression hardened, his jaw tightening in understanding as I began to explain the web of manipulation, deceit, and betrayal that had been spinning around me for so long. Melanie had unknowingly handed me the key to taking back control.
In that moment, I knew: I would no longer be a victim of their games. I was ready to fight back, to reclaim everything that was mine, and Atlas would be by my side when I did.
