As the night wore on and the reality show preparations continued, Catherine couldn’t help but feel a sense of exhaustion. She’d agreed to help Audrey, but the weight of everything else in her life was starting to catch up with her. She watched Audrey move around the house, making sure everything was perfect, yet Catherine knew the show would still be a stressful experience for her sister.
In the meantime, Catherine had a moment to reflect on her own situation. The whole “reality show” experience was something that had always seemed so foreign to her. She wasn’t someone who craved the spotlight, but Audrey’s request had been genuine and heartfelt, so how could she say no?
As the evening continued, Audrey seemed to be growing more excited, but Catherine remained somewhat detached, her tiredness starting to show. Audrey, on the other hand, was a bundle of energy, now looking at the single backpack Catherine had brought with a raised brow.
“You’re really only bringing this much?” Audrey asked, her voice filled with disbelief.
Catherine nodded, her expression calm but firm. “It’s only for two days. I don’t need much.”
Audrey, clearly a little embarrassed by the sheer amount of things she’d packed, began to shift things around, trying to pare down her overstuffed luggage. She clearly wanted to impress her sister with how much effort she was willing to put into everything, but Catherine’s disapproval was enough to make her take action.
Finally, with a reluctant sigh, Audrey managed to condense her two large suitcases into just one. A small sense of satisfaction washed over her when she saw Catherine’s approving look.
“Better?” Audrey asked softly, her eyes flicking to Catherine.
“Much,” Catherine responded simply, though her voice lacked the usual warmth. She was already mentally preparing for the days ahead, knowing that the reality show, despite all its excitement, was about to add even more pressure to their already complicated lives.
Audrey, not missing the lack of energy in her sister, gave her a soft smile, grateful that Catherine was willing to help despite her apparent exhaustion. She couldn’t have asked for a better sister to rely on.
“I’ll make sure everything goes smoothly,” Audrey promised, trying to reassure Catherine.
Catherine didn’t reply, her mind already elsewhere, focused on what the weekend would bring. She knew it was going to be a challenge—but at least she would be there for Audrey, even if she didn’t enjoy being in the public eye.
The night settled around them, and the preparations for the show continued. Catherine just hoped she could keep her composure through it all.
