Catherine, dressed in a baseball cap that obscured her face, a white T-shirt, and black cargo pants, exuded an effortless charm that captured the attention of passersby. Even when sitting quietly and playing games, people couldn’t help but steal a glance at her. Some were simply born with a certain allure, and Catherine was one of them.
Suddenly, an angry voice broke through the calm: “Can you do it or not? If you can’t, I’ll find someone else to shoot the scene!” The man’s hoarse voice caught Catherine’s attention. Her hearing was sharper than most, so she immediately picked up on the altercation.
She frowned slightly, displeased by the harshness in the voice. Though she had no intention of getting involved, she couldn’t help but pay attention when Audrey’s voice reached her ears.
“I’m sorry, sir. Please let me try again!” Audrey’s response was almost a plea, and it immediately drew Catherine in.
Catherine set aside her phone and walked toward the film crew. She spotted two middle-aged men with beards, sitting behind video cameras, evidently working on the commercial. Audrey, shivering in the pool, seemed uncomfortable, which only deepened Catherine’s frown. So that’s why Audrey asked for tampons suited for swimming. Even with her period, she still had to go into the water.
Catherine overheard the director speaking to his assistant, her acute hearing allowing her to catch every word, even from a distance.
The director spoke to his assistant, “This girl has such a nice body, but her clothes could be more revealing. Splash more water on her. Let’s highlight her sexy side more.”
The assistant suggested, “Why don’t we ask her to change into something white? Once it’s wet, it becomes see-through, giving a seductive illusion. It’ll be the most provocative.”
The director laughed, clearly pleased with the idea. “Hehe, you’re good at this. Go ask her to change.”
Audrey, after being called out of the water, thought the shoot was over. But the crew member informed her that they needed to reshoot, and she had to change into a different outfit. Audrey hesitated, clearly uncomfortable.
The assistant, seeing her reluctance, berated Audrey in front of everyone. “Be more professional, will you? Stop pretending to be an A-lister. If not, we’ll find someone else.”
Audrey’s face flushed red with humiliation, and she bit her lip in submission. “Yes, sir. I’ll go change now. Please don’t be mad at me.”
Catherine, watching from nearby, observed the entire scene. As Audrey obediently made her way to the dressing room, the assistant rolled his eyes, muttering under his breath, “As a D-list star, she’s got the nerve to act difficult. Pretending to be important.”
Catherine’s eyes narrowed, a cold glint in them. She quickly pulled a decorative button from her pants, flicking it away with a swift motion of her fingers.
As the assistant walked back toward the director, bragging about his success in getting Audrey to comply, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his ankle. He lost his balance and fell into the pool with a loud splash.
The assistant’s fall sent a shockwave through the set, knocking all the filming equipment into the water. Chaos ensued as the crew scrambled to save the equipment, which was water-sensitive and expensive. Catherine stood by, her expression cold and unbothered, watching the mess unfold.
Some people really need to watch their mouths, she thought with a faint smirk.
Audrey, now in the dressing room, emerged to find Catherine waiting for her at the door. She looked apologetic. “I’m sorry, Kathy. I thought it would be quick, but I didn’t expect the director to keep pushing for more shooting. Are you hungry? If you are, we can—”
Before Audrey could finish, Catherine grabbed her wrist and pulled her away, not giving her a chance to react.
Audrey, caught off guard, tried to stop her. “Kathy, I haven’t finished the shoot yet. We can’t leave!”
Catherine stopped and looked back at her sister, her voice calm and firm. “There’s no more shoot for today.”
“No more?” Audrey asked, confused. “Why?”
“The equipment fell into the water,” Catherine said without any hesitation. “The director gave everyone a day off.”
Audrey turned around to see the crew carrying water-damaged equipment from the pool. She was stunned. How did that happen? But before she could piece it together, Catherine pulled her away from the chaos, exuding an air of authority that made it impossible for Audrey to question her.
Audrey, still oblivious to the true events, didn’t think much of the incident. She assumed the director had decided to call it a day and that Catherine, thinking she was helping, had taken matters into her own hands.
“Well, in that case, let me treat you to dinner!” Audrey smiled brightly. She wanted to unwind after a long day.
The two sisters ended up at a barbecue place, a familiar setting for Catherine. Audrey couldn’t understand why her sister loved barbecue so much, but this time, Catherine surprised her by ordering non-spicy dishes. Audrey had mentioned her dislike for spicy food during her period, and Catherine had remembered.
As they sat down to eat, Audrey smiled warmly at Catherine. “Kathy, you’re so nice to me. You knew I don’t like spicy food during my period, so you ordered non-spicy dishes. Thank you so much. I love you!”
Catherine looked at her sister with a raised eyebrow, feeling a slight confusion. She had simply ordered based on Audrey’s preferences, but the way Audrey thanked her made her feel like she had done something special.
Before Catherine could respond, Audrey’s phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and answered the call. It was Kim, and his angry voice immediately filled the air.
“Audrey, have you lost your mind? Why did you leave halfway through the shoot? Do you want to drive me mad, or do you want to quit acting and go back to being a spoiled princess?”
Audrey, taken aback by his scolding, didn’t quite know how to respond at first. After a few seconds, she realized what had happened and explained, “Kimmy, I didn’t leave on purpose. There was an accident at the shoot, and all the equipment fell into the water. We couldn’t continue, so I left.”
Kim wasn’t having it. “Are you crazy, Audrey? Did you even tell the production team you were leaving? Did you inform the director about the equipment issue?”
Audrey was confused. She didn’t know the director hadn’t officially given her leave. Catherine had made the decision to pull her out, thinking the shoot was over. Audrey, wanting to protect her sister from blame, quickly apologized and stepped aside to continue the call.
After venting his frustrations, Kim calmed down and asked where Audrey was. She told him that she was having dinner with Catherine, and Kim wasted no time with his next question.
“Have you told your sister about the reality show? This seems like a good time to bring it up. Your career depends on it, young miss!”
