Catherine remained seated, her expression unwavering as Johnathan raged in front of her. The tension in the air was palpable, but she didn’t move an inch, her focus still on the documents Leonel had placed before her. She didn’t acknowledge Johnathan’s outburst at first, allowing the silence to stretch, a deliberate move to unnerve him.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Catherine slowly looked up at him, her eyes sharp and calculating. “Johnathan,” she began, her voice cool and composed, “do you believe that because you’re Vicente’s grandson, you can do whatever you want here?” She let the words hang in the air, her gaze unwavering.
Johnathan’s anger flared even hotter at her calm response. “I’m the heir to the Swann Corporation! This is mine! No one tells me what I can and can’t do!”
Catherine let out a soft chuckle, almost as if she was amused by his outburst. “You think you’re the heir?” she asked, her tone now colder than ice. “You’re not even capable of running a company, let alone inheriting it.”
Johnathan’s face contorted with fury. “You dare disrespect me? I’ll make sure you regret this, you and your little plan to fire my uncle.”
At this, Catherine stood up from her chair, her presence now dominating the room. “Your uncle’s negligence is an issue of principle, not personal vendettas. The company must come first. But since you’re so interested in power, let’s see how well you manage your own little empire,” she said, her voice laced with authority.
She turned to Leonel, who had been watching the exchange in silence. “I’m sure you’ve already prepared the necessary paperwork for this, Leonel.”
Leonel nodded, his expression grim. “Yes, Miss Swann.”
Catherine turned back to Johnathan, her gaze hardening. “You have no real power here, Johnathan. Not until you can prove you deserve it. So, I suggest you take a seat, shut up, and learn how to play the game properly.”
Johnathan was stunned into silence for a moment, the weight of her words finally sinking in. He had never been spoken to like this, not even by his own family. But before he could respond, Catherine continued.
“Your uncle is a liability to this company. I’m not here to play games or make empty threats. If you think you can intimidate me or push me around, you’re mistaken. I’ve made my decision. Now, leave my office.”
Johnathan opened his mouth to argue, but before he could say another word, Linda stepped forward and spoke in a firm tone. “Mr. Johnathan, Miss Swann has made her decision clear. I suggest you leave now before things escalate further.”
Johnathan glared at Linda but saw the unyielding resolve in her eyes. For the first time, he realized that no one in this room was afraid of him. He could feel the weight of Catherine’s power pressing down on him, and something within him shifted.
With a final, angry snort, Johnathan turned and stormed out of the office, muttering curses under his breath. The door slammed shut behind him, leaving only Catherine, Leonel, and Linda in the room.
Linda exhaled in relief, her posture relaxing slightly. “Miss Swann, that was… impressive,” she said, her respect for Catherine now palpable.
Catherine nodded curtly, her eyes returning to the documents. “It’s time to make things right,” she said, her voice cold and determined. “The Swann Corporation belongs to the future, not to the mistakes of the past.”
Leonel, still quietly processing the events, finally spoke up. “You handled that well. But what’s next? Johnathan won’t be so easily deterred.”
Catherine gave him a sly smile, her confidence unwavering. “Next? We make sure the shareholders know that things are changing. A new vision, a new leadership. We’ll use Johnathan’s misstep as an opportunity to strengthen my position and show the world that I’m not someone to be trifled with.”
She glanced at Leonel, her expression sharpening. “And we’ll make sure that no one, not even family, thinks they can control me.”
Linda gave a small nod, understanding the weight of Catherine’s words. The Swann Corporation was about to undergo a transformation, and no one would be left untouched by the shift in power.
